Kyushu Teapot by 山崎さおり Saori Yamazaki
This Kyushu teapot by Saori Yamazaki (山崎さおり) is handcrafted in Ibaraki using her signature clay body, rich in iron from Shigaraki clay. Through delicate construction and carbonized firing, it achieves a warm, organic texture and a timeless presence. The form is both functional and beautifully balanced — a piece meant to be used and cherished in daily tea rituals.
About the Artist
Saori Yamazaki was born in 1975 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and trained at the Aichi Prefecture Ceramic Training College. She works from her studio near Kasama, Ibaraki Prefecture, creating each piece slowly and by hand, using iron-rich clay she personally mixes. Deeply passionate about tea, Yamazaki’s teaware reflects her poetic approach: every variation in shape and glaze feels like a moment captured between maker, vessel, and user.
