Crafted by hand in her Hyogo studio, the piece features a refined form and a handle that feels both graceful and sturdy. The glaze — a soft, muted hue with subtle gradation — evokes natural landscapes and delicate transitions of light, creating a calm, poetic presence in any space. Its gentle lip and smooth curves make it a lovely vehicle for serving water, tea, or other liquids, while its sculptural quality ensures it also stands beautifully on its own.

About the Artist

Yuka Ando (安藤由香) is a Japanese ceramicist celebrated for her delicate, poetic approach to form and glaze. Born in 1982 in Osaka and raised in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, she studied abroad in California before returning to Japan to pursue ceramics, training in Kyoto and immersing herself in the Tamba pottery tradition. She also spent time in Denmark, where the palette and natural landscapes deeply influenced her work.

Ando’s pieces are known for their subtle, layered glazes that shift like skies, fog, or water, creating a sense of depth and quiet elegance. She intentionally works with a limited selection of clays to focus on these complex glazes, allowing color and texture to become the primary expression. Based in Tamba-Sasayama, Hyogo Prefecture, her work balances functional design with sculptural beauty, creating vessels that are both practical and deeply expressive.
